North Vietnam Trekking Expedition
- Duration:
- 10 days/9 nights
- Starting from:
- Hanoi, Vietnam
If you enjoy doing a variety of different activities, this expedition is the one for you. Comprised of three distinct segments, you will hike in the trekking capital of Asia, Sapa; kayak in one of the world’s most unique waterways, Halong Bay; and finish off with biking in the highlands of Mau Chau, which features one of the most varied ethnic melting pots in all of Asia.
Sapa is a key adventure destination in Indochina. Part of the Hoang Lien mountain range that dominates northern Vietnam, Mount Fansipan is one of Sapa’s most popular attractions. The trekking portion of this expedition explores Heaven’s Gate, Fanispan’s peak and the Hmong village of Sin Chai.
You will enjoy a camping adventure that explores Halong Bay by kayak and opens up the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a way that you could never see by larger boat. You will explore hidden lagoons, marine caves and secret beaches, as well as fishing villages and pearl farms. Whether you are a beginner or an expert kayaker, the excursion will be tailored to your level of skill and particular areas of interest. Exploring the emerald-hued isles and limestone karst formations by day and beach camping by night is a great way to experience this splendid waterway as you can no other way.
Mountain bike enthusiasts who want to experience remote Vietnamese village life will enjoy this biking adventure that takes you off-track into out of the way villages and locales that offer stunning views that can’t easily be reached any other way.
The tour takes you into the countryside and into the mountains via a variety of paths, including single-track corridors and undulating, rough jeep trails with climbs that ultimately are rewarded with steep descents. Along the way, various ethnic minority villages will be encountered, including those of the White Thai. Your ride will pass through many villages, across lush rice paddies and along mountain rims that afford remarkable panoramas of the valleys below.
Highlights for this adventure are
Overnight train to Sapa. Trekking to Heaven’s Gate and Mt. Fanispan’s summit. High altitude camping. Visits to ethnic minority villages. Kayaking amongst karst limestone formations. Mountain biking to Mai Chau Lodge.
